Since 2016, the Varangeville water treatment plant in Meurthe-et-Moselle has been equipped with a UV disinfection system from ABIOTEC, a company specialized in UV technology for over 35 years.
\nThe municipality chose this clean technology to avoid the use of chemical biocides, which alter the taste of water. Thanks to UV technology, issues related to taste, odor, and dosing are avoided.<\/p>\n

On January 1, 2016, the application of the UV decree dated October 9, 2012, came into effect. From that point forward, any UV system installed for the treatment of drinking water must be certified by the Ministry of Health with an ACS-UV (a certificate covering both materials used and the treatment process). ACS-UV certifications are issued by two authorized French laboratories (CARSO and EUROFINS), and each UV system is approved for a specific flow rate range and UV transmittance range at 254 nm. As part of this certification, the water inlet and outlet fittings (orientation and diameter) are fixed, as the systems are tested in this exact configuration to obtain approval.<\/p>\n

At the Varangeville drinking water plant, the selected solution was an in-line ABIOTEC UV system capable of treating a flow rate of 250 m\u00b3\/h. The lamps are positioned perpendicular to the water flow, allowing for an ultra-compact installation with minimal pressure loss.
\nThe ABIOTEC UV system is equipped with a programmable automatic cleaning mechanism that cleans the quartz sleeves without chemicals or interruption of treatment. As a result, maintenance is reduced to a strict minimum, limited to an annual lamp replacement. A UV sensor monitors the UV output of the lamps.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
